It’s time!

It’s finally final time! After all this build up. We’re still none the wiser who is going to win this year, which means the tension is high and opinions are as divided as they’ve been all season.

Party wise we took a night off last night. No, not from partying, silly, but from the Eurovision venues. Instead we checked out so e of the lovely gay bars of Copenhagen including a special bear party at the Jailhouse bar (Copenhagen’s only jail-themed gay bar, they proclaim, like there’s a high possibility of there being another). It’s a snug venue, particularly when full of burly blokes with beards, but I had quite the jolly time. It may have taken me until the penultimate night to clarify it but I can confirm those Ukrainian, Belarussian and Russian petitioners were right all along about Eurovision being a hotbed of sodomy. It was right there in my own bed all along.

So we enjoyed a leisurely start to this morning by deploying the genius tactic of delaying it until this afternoon, and have availed ourselves of some lovely Thai food and are now in the press centre waiting to go through and join friends who have public tickets. I fancy there will be some surprises and disappointments tonight, mainly as there are a good 15 or more songs deserving of a top 10 placing, so simple mathematics will render some excellent songs at the lower end of the scoreboard. I hope those who end up there won’t be too disheartened. I’m hoping for a good showing for the UK to validate their fresh approach if nothing else, but my gut reaction is still saying Austria. But really, who knows?

Thanks for reading us again this year, enjoy the show, and remember your favourite sedative should the voting be close.  Have a fab Eurovision everyone.
