18 March – I know an old man

Norwegian coat of arms

We go back to the glorious days of black and white today. Many of you might not even remember when monochrome was the only way to watch your favourite TV programmes. Today’s song, from the 1960s, set a few feats. It was one of the shortest songs ever performed on a Eurovision stage. And the performer wore a trouser suit. This was quite daring back then, especially on a woman of the female persuasion.

Birthday girl Åse Kleveland has had a very illustrious career since Eurovision. She became an MP and a minister. And we mustn’t forget she hosted the contest in Bergen in 1986. Who could forget her singing about who’ll be the best?

Åse is 68 today.

Gratulerer med dagen, Åse!
