Italy - Sanremo newcomers

This year, rather than involve the newcomers in the marathon slog that is Sanremo, they get their own warm-up competition, just in time for Christmas.

This 'new' competition is open to artists under the age of 36.

24 acts will compete with songs introduced from 17 December in TV preview shows.

There's two shows - each with 12 acts on 20 and 21 December. The winner of each gets a place in the 2019 Sanremo festival.
