So who is going to represent Austria in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest? The answer is simple, Zoe will with her song Loin D’Ici!!
After a dismal “nil points” last year, ORF have decided…. to change a big fat nothing in their approach to the Eurovision in 2016. Ten acts were chosen by ORF to take part in their final on the 12th February. Televoting and Jury decided the winner.
Well….. it was a very very long final, interspersed by the news ( or ZIB as they call it) and I *think* it finished about half past 27 or something ridiculous as it over-ran. The Ten singers *and* their songs were each studied by a jury, including Conchita (natch) and Julie Frost ( writer of Satellite and clearly doesn’t understand German as they kept translating in her ear piece!!). Clearly with some hours of Television to fill they stretched it out as much as they could but, in the end, the French language song “Loin D’ici” ( Far from here) took both the Free Language rule and Austria into new territory.
