This was a cracking little song in the previews, despite the overtones of violence against women in the video, however now they have her on her own on the stage, singing this song on a box… a very very LARGE box….. I mean what on EARTH does this add to the performance? The guitarist that they cut to in the middle 8 is stranded several yards away from her and they drummer is several yards behind her. It looks a bit odd on the overhead shots, but on the cutaways it works well.
However the song has no discernible start, end, structure or, arguably, singing talent on stage. Albania seem to have done a reverse engineering job on this and have stunted the edginess of the song by the way this has been staged. and that’s a shame. It’s just a toilet break waiting to happen unless something drastic happens.
Tis written in ye olde Eurovision folklore: “when the choreographer has had ye olde nervous breakdown, just stand on a large box”. Usually works a treat. Now, though, I’m off for a piss.
