Easy come, easy go for Australian Eurovision track record

Firebrace

Australia has certainly shown beginners’ luck at Eurovision. A respectable debut and then – on only their second try – the huge continent in a completely different timezone nearly won the whole shebang.

It seems this purple patch is to be short-lived. SBS have put their faith in a boy with magnificent eyebrows and the hugely improbable name of Isaiah Firebrace.

Dreary is a good way to describe this limp slice of very white boy soul. He’s a former X Factor winner who very nearly didn’t make it after forgetting the words to his audition pieces two years on the trot.

Isaiah has chart form. His first single – It’s Gotta Be You – went Platinum in Sweden, and also charted in Denmark and Norway.

Isaiah’s Eurovision song ‘Don’t Come Easy’ comes from DNA Songs duo David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii, the same team who wrote Dami Im’s ‘Sound of Silence’.
