Let it whine

Ooh you can tell the heat is getting to me here in Oslo, I’m already sharpening the knife for Georgia. Personally the song was one I didn’t originally rate and then it kind of grew on me. Our Georgian stars take to the stage and are determined to force choreography on us whether we like it not. I guess it needed something to spike it up like perhaps an injection of morphine.

I think she’s going to find dancing around the stage AND singing pretty tough going. One or two of the vocals are already a bit screechy. She should leave all the energetic bits to the boys. It suits them better and they’re better at it.

It’s impossible to call this one. If it went on performance you’d call it a non-qualifier but we all know there are several “sympathetic” countries lurking in semi final two who might tip it over the threshold needed to bore the arse off everyone on Saturday 29th.

Phil: ’tis very busy this one. Lots of Choreography that is very symbolic, or is it shambolic? and I also hope that she is in her civvies and not her stage outfit because it does look like a pair of her mothers curtains that have been run up into a little something.

It was her civvies thank the lord because she is wearing a red number gathered at the top, I think I prefer her civvies to be honest!!

The performance gets more marks than the song to be honest,Dramatic camera swooping, slow pans around the stage and the wind machines but there is lots of dancing and lifting and all sorts of stuff going on that make it look a mess on stage for me….

Vocally it should qualify, however I fear it won’t…

Nick: It’s a quintessentially simple power ballad performed not nearly as simply as it should be. There’s some rather elaborate choreography going on, and it detracts for me. This is a ‘stand there and just sing it’ song. Sofia looks good fun in the breaks between runthroughs, though, and seems pretty sound vocally. It just looks too busy. In this semifinal of 15 qualifiers, this could be one that find itself squeezed, although it should have enough banker points to carry it forward.

This semi is still brutal. It’s still no place for any mistakes to be made even by the very best.

No pressure, then! 🙂
