A big handful of rehearsals from Nick

Interesting set of rehearsals so far, I think. Apart from Poland, virtually everyone seems to have been in fairly good voice and terrible clothes, which is just as it should be.

Waldo’s obviously not quite there after his bout of Eurovision flu yet, but the girls sound a bit better; I’m loving the Balkan chair, which looks very much like Lord Lloyd Webber’s throne, and makes me expect some crashing Phantom of the Opera type chords when it swings round.

Portugal – lovely song, fashion nightmare, but it might well be meaningful to the Portuguese so I’ll go easy on it. Chiara, worryingly, looks rather svelte in those wide hoops, which will completely ruin all my cruel jokes if so. Maybe I’m just in the wrong aspect ratio. Bosnia – yep, v. v. good, every chance of winning this bit and making inroads into the second bit. I’ve got a bit bored of it now though.

On to SF2: Croatia is as good as you’d hope, but it’s still the sort of music you’d hear backing images of the sun setting on a beautiful inky blue sea on a tourist board commercial at midnight on Sky News, followed by the slogan Croatia – we got first dibs on all the coastline or something.

Ireland’s been discussed at length, and I can only hope that that interesting metal thing Sinead’s wearing isn’t going to open up and display the Irish flag in big blocks of light at the key change.

Latvia, Serbia… yea, nothing unexpected since Monday’s runthroughs. Poland… that’s *got* to be Eurovision flu, I hope. If it isn’t, then forget about any kind of score at all.

Wish me S’s and blanks for the evening, won’t you? I’m owed some wins!
