I adored the Bulgarian song last year, and knowing the same team is behind 'Bones' set expectations high.
Were this to be the Bulgarian entry back in 2015, most of us would surely write it off, saying it was a step in the right direction, but ultimately nothing special. Symphonix International have two songs in the 2018 contest and for me, this is the weaker one. It could easily pass as the B-side to 'Beautiful Mess', that's how much weaker it sounds.
As soon as it gets going properly, it ends, and I'm left underwhelmed.
And don't even get me started on the term 'super group' - wouldn't they all need to be notable superstars to qualify for that tag? Equinox come over well in the studio version of the song, live it looks and sounds like five solo singers, with no on-stage connection. And five solo singers who all tend to lack much in the way of charisma.
I don't see this being the first winner for Bulgaria. I'd go so far as to suggest it will reset them to mid-table players.
