The final song and my first thought about this is “Isn’t it unlucky to be under ladders” – it seems so in this case because Melovin have clearly dropped the tune from a great height. It sounds totally out of tune on the preview but, part of me thinks, it’s supposed to be that way.
To me it sounds… embryonic. That is to say that it doesn’t seem to have many mature song writing features about it and it is a little bit “young” for this contest. He’s got a decent voice mind but the product is repetitive and a little bit too trite to get anything other than the good looking boy vote. Even his one contact lens in a different colour doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Underwhelming.
