If this really is the best than a rigged Spanish Final can come up with, Spain need to take the hint and go away and come back with a better song … or indeed, a song.
It speaks volumes when Manel takes 25 seconds to face the camera at the start (cowering in shame, presumably), and he sings the verse turned away from the crowd. The chorus has 12 lines, nine of which are the title – which smacks of lazy songwriting.
It is supposed to have the vibe of him and his surfer mates having a jam on the beach, but the camera work is horrid and he thinks he is appealing to the camera when in fact it’s like he’s squinting down it.
The backing visual – which is all beach and stuff – would look good on a better song, but this sounds like any old shit that has been thrown together to represent RTVE.
This has no redeeming features at all, not even a good voice.
Shoddy, repetitive nonsense that deserves a big fat zero.
