13 September – We looked in vain for the perfect clock

Portugal’s win in May proves that a song doesn’t have to be in a widely-spoken language to win. Admittedly, it’s the first time since 2007 a non-English song has won, but it must give hope to people who want to perform in their own tongue. If you recall, every non-English song in Kyiv made the Grand Final.

This brings us to today’s birthday girl Olta Boka. Back in Belgrade there were a few concerns about her being Albanian, but we were all so pleased that the 16 year-old went through. Maybe our friends in Albania will give us a song in their own language next year.

Olta is 26 today.

Gëzuar ditëlindjen, Olta!
