23 April – Because I’m the queen of the big country

Because we celebrate all aspects of our favourite TV show here, it should be no surprise when I dig deeply into the archives.

I’ve dug/digged very deeply today, back to the fifth contest. No, it’s not from 2006, but from the fun and games in 1960. You might have been alive in those days, and you may even have watched this contest that came from London. The winner was today’s birthday girl Jacqueline Boyer (née Elaine Ducos). Her dad sang for Monaco the year before and – fact fans – Ms Boyer was the first performer to be born in the 1940s. A French win? Could that happen this year?

Jacqueline is 77 today.

Bonne anniversaire, Jacqueline!
