6 July – They can push Beckham and overthrow Clinton

You have to be prepared to listen to all styles when putting yourself through a Eurovision Song Contest. The Schlager, the ballad, the fado, the mugham. It all adds to the mix. You might wonder why some other genres don’t get used as much.

Today we treat you to the genre of swing. Good old Frank Sinatra and his ilk were exemplary at it. It’s not everyone’s cup of kvass but when it’s done well, it’s really good. Today’s birthday boy Roger Cicero sadly died in 2016 aged only 45, but this was a darn good song, performed very well by a half-decent performer. You can tell he was comfortable singing what he was singing. His talent is sadly missed.

Roger would have been 48 today.
