ESC birthdays 20/12 – It’s never too late

Scandinavium

I may have said this once or twice before, but it’s my most humble of opinions that the best contest ever was 1985. I know some of you out there were not even born when all the fun and games came from Göteborg. If not, you missed the treatiest of treats. A fine hostess. a top-quality orchestra all dressed in white. All of the winning conductors from 1979 to 1984. A tight show of 2 hours and 45 minutes. A good crop of songs. And, for once, Greece and Cyprus didn’t give each other 12 points. They only gave each other 8. So you see, 1985 is noteworthy for that simple fact alone. That recipient of the Hellenic 8 points was Olympia ‘Lia’ Vissi. Lia is 60 today.

Χρόνια πολλά, Λία!
