It’s dark. Always dark these days. I need some sun and warmth. As I’m broke all I can do is dream And dream of somewhere European and warm. Any ideas? Well I’ll pick somewhere that’s never won our favourite TV show. No, not Malta this time. I’m picking Portugal. A fine country with some fine alcoholic beverages. I might get there one day. So you’ll be wanting a birthday and I have a nice Portuguese one for you. Now I’ve watched the 1976 fest many times and I don’t think it’s the best ever contest. Not by a long piece of chalk. But I found this little tune by Carlos Manuel de Ascenção do Carmo de Almeida. Luckily for us he just calls himself Carlos do Carmo. He sings about little green flowers and luuurve. Who knows why he didn’t win. Carlos is 76 today.
