Eurovision birthdays 31/12 – Are you sure it’s nearly 2015?

So that was 2014. The year the Netherlands came second and Malta hosted the Junior ESC. And some central European country won for the first time in 48 years. We lost François Deguelt, Lynsey de Paul, Alice Babs, and Udo Jürgens. We got to see what contests looked like down by the docks with the smell of diesel and fish scenting the air. We already know five – yes, five – songs for the next event sometime in May. But onto today’s birthday. Brian Henry John Alford, also known as John Allison, just made it into 1939 and finished in the once favourite position for the UK of stuff to Jean-Claude Pascal. John is 75 today.

Happy birthday, John!

PS – Don’t forget the Top 250 countdown on escradio.com. Will it be Conchita Sausage or Soreen the fruity malt loaf at number one?
