Aside from the songs

Belgium’s up next and I hate it. I’m therefore going to take the opportunity to blog a little about the environs. We really are in the back end of beyond. As I looked across the Øresund from the side where it’s called the Öresund last year we could spy some desolate scrubland. Who knew this is where we would be now? It’s bleakness in a Cement Garden manner, perhaps an unfortunate analogy as we’re just about to get an ode to a mother if you know what happens in that.

The tents that form the press centre area varying between a bit stifling and a bit chilly, but it’s a small complaint as everything else is good inside, once you get here. The style is modern and quirky; you’ll probably have seen the inflatable sofas and swings that look a bit like slings at an S&M club by now. The canteen has some good salads for a veggie like me, though I think I need to bring in a bottle of Tabasco tomorrow to liven it up to my chilli-obsessed tastes. It’s very reasonable too.
