The Czech Republic are BACK!

I dunno, maybe it’s been a long day, but the return of the Czechs is getting a modestly warm reaction in the press centre generally. It’s hard work to my ears, there’s a LOT of miserable angst in this section of the draw. Probably that’s why the producers decided to break it up by putting fluffy, refreshing, colourful Lithuania on, umm… first.

It’s another very intense and theatrical performance, though gruffer and older than Norway’s take – indeed, it’s almost like we’ve been led on a beautiful narrative of love through the day’s rehearsals from the thrill of first meeting, the youthful belief that you can change the world (while not being quite sure that you’re actually with the right people), to the admission that you’ve made a dreadful mistake and probably ought to split for your own happiness’ sake, to the mature realisation that this is actually as good as it’s going to get and you might as well let the last dying ember of happiness stay alight as long as possible, knowing that it’s only a matter of time before the utter misery merges into the release of eventual blissful oblivion.

Still, I digress, the second half of the semi can wait till tomorrow.

This might well be good enough to challenge for one of the last spots in the final lineup. And I didn’t think I’d be saying THAT this morning!
