19 September – Why are there always miracles?

You might think that today’s lyric comes from a certain Croatian this year. You know the one/two I mean. But alas not. It predates Mr Houdek’s little duet by 50 years. And it was the home entry, so the host broadcaster definitely didn’t want it to win.

ORF didn’t need to worry. There were several stand-out songs in 1967, of which birthday boy Peter Horton‘s want one. Only Portugal and Yugoslavia liked his song enough to give it points. He does have, however, the distinction of being the most successful home act in Austria.

Peter is 76 today.

Frohe Geburtstag, Peter!
