I love a fun old lyric, like the one above. It makes you wonder what the songwriter was thinking when they wrote it down for the first time. In this case, was the writer sat in a field? Was he (because it was a he) a coeliac and writing about what he missed most on his dinner plate? Or was he on something more progressive?
One of the the lyricists was today’s birthday boy Riccardo Fogli. He must have had courage in what had been written, as he was on stage alone and had to sing his little heart out in front of the world’s biggest electric fire.
Riccardo is 70 today.
Buon compleanno, Riccardo!
