ESC birthdays 17/9 – A soloist who sings a song for two??

Ahava

I found a birthday that was far too good to ignore. The birthday girl is another one of that rare breed – the debut performer. Not only a debut performer, but she came back for another go. You might say she’s the Carola of Israel, although that would be highly unkind to Hanna Drezner-Tzakh, better known as Ilanit. Her best result was in 1973, but here’s her charming effort from 1977. Ilanit is 68 today.

יום הולדת שמח, אילנית!

An anecdote with this entry: The backing singers weren’t Israeli backing singers.I am not sure if they were English women who were taught how to sing phonetically or if they were Jewish English women who had some knowledge in Hebrew. The result remains the same:A very strong English accent to the backing singers
