These big birthdays just keep on coming. A 50th yesterday, a 60th today. And if you’ve done your calculations, today’s birthday girl would have been in her heyday in the 1980s. And you’d be right. She was on stage in front of Europe’s biggest gas fire in 1983 and had a little band with her. Sadly, the curse of the saxophone struck and we got some never-heard-before sounds out of it. Maybe Κρυσαυγή ‘Κρίστη’ Στασινοπούλου/Chrisavgi ‘Christi’ Stassinopoulou didn’t have a chance of winning anyway, but it wouldn’t be the last time this particular curse hit our Hellenic friends. Christie is 60 today.
