After all the cavalcade of national finals that continued over the weekend. So it’s appropriate that today’s birthday video features the last-but-one time the UK of stuff had a national final of sorts. The formula was sound enough – a world-renowned songwriting team, and a bunch of reasonable singers to perform one song in their own styles. It did produce the best result the UK of stuff has seen since the semi-final fun and games started. The downfall came the following year, when the BBC had to find another world-renowned songwriter to capitalise on it. They didn’t. So here’s Jade Ewen showing us how she won her particular national final. Jade is 28 today.
