Pay-de-merde no longer

Esprit Arena

One of the things that has suddenly hit me is the concept of time delay. Sat here in the press centre we get the press conferences piped through from the compact and bijou press conference area very close. I can here the press conference and it all sounds very benign. But, what’s this? The piped-through press conference has a time delay of about 2 seconds. Just enough time for you to here that killer question (“In your video, was the rain warm or cold?”) all over again. It’s nice of them to add this thoughtful little feature to our Eurovision experience.

Reading the post below about Switzerland, I can stick my neck out and say that I’ve always admired this little Swiss ditty, not least because of the fragrant Anna. After the madness of Russia and before the grab-you-by-the-throatedness of Georgia, this is a breath of fresh air. She may have reaped the benefits of the great Swiss na-na-na-na harvest of late 2010, but that shouldn’t bother us.

It appears that the Euroclub could be the place to be tonight, as it officially opens. Some of us were in there last night, before it became the Euroclub and was full of locals. The street outside had also been closed, and was full of people drinking. I felt right at home. Anyway, Schlössel, as it was until last night, promises to be a riotous venue full of good cheer. It even earned extra points from one of my cohorts, as he was actually allowed to smoke inside! Even the fact he was smoking cigarillos didn’t matter.

Day one nearly over, and I probably need a good rub down with a 2006 delegation handbook.
