Not to be confused with: light nougat.
Talking of confused, here I am, back home, trying to work out what the HELL happened last week, and… I’m confused. I’ll try and piece it together with logic and thinking.
First up, I reckon there’s a clear top 4 in this semi – Russia, Estonia, Romania and Belgium. Probably in that precise order, too.
I’m willing to believe that Greece and Hungary are the next two down, and I’d be surprised if either falls out of the top 10.
At the other end of the table, I don’t see much cause for optimism in the camps of Netherlands, FYR Macedonia, Belarus and Denmark. I think they’ve got front row seats on their respective flight home.
That would leave four qualifiers in the remaining pool of Moldova, Armenia, Finland, Serbia, Albania and Georgia. I’ve often said that comparing Eurovision songs is like trying to explain whether you like Dinamo Tirana more than junction 21 of the M25, or sorting out the respective merits of concrete fence posts and blackcurrant cheesecake. They’re all good in their own diverse ways, and it really does depend on what you’re looking for at that particular moment.
My *hunch* is that the things least like what our voting constituencies will be seeking tonight are Moldova and Albania and that those are the two to depart. There were theories that young Eduard’s victory in the Moldovan nationals wasn’t absolutely above board though, and even a song like that on 1st could get shoved over the line. If it is, I’d be most concerned for Finland or Serbia as the ones to drop out of the ten.
So my 10 to go through are Russia, Estonia, Romania, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Armenia, Georgia, and (unconfidently) Finland and Serbia.
What say you, Europe?
