Mo’s Eurovision Countdown 2022 – Part 15 – Georgia

Circus Mircus – Lock Me In

This isn’t anything like the whacky art house project I had anticipated. It has a simple summery groove and an old-school Brit indie sound. I’m really fond of the song and it’s quite different to anything else happening in this year’s Contest.

My only issue is it’s somewhat on the repetitive side and once you’ve heard the first minute, that’s you done. The law of diminishing returns kicks in. You might want more or expect more, but Circus Mircus don’t deliver.

The overall effect somehow manages to sound studenty and at the same time the kind of song a right-wing televangelist would consider for a warm-up number.

It’s a song for me that ends up only 50% of what it could have been. Like the sort of song playing in the background of ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ when someone has bought a new house and can’t find the keys.

Mo’s Score.  7 Points

So YOU’RE the guy who picks the ‘literal interpretation’ music for HUTH!

There should be more Eurovision tracks on there, like when they had a father/son developing team really into golf. Whoever picked the English version of Norway’s 1985 winning song…truly inspired!
