Adonxs – Kiss Kiss Goodbye
Czechia serves up a rare thing in this year’s contest: something that starts like a proper song. With echoes of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game and a smouldering film noir atmosphere, Kiss Kiss Goodbye oozes tension and restraint, letting the vocal do its work rather than competing with it. The chorus hits like a wave of melancholy you didn’t know you needed, and for two brief minutes, you begin to believe again.
And then… the dance break. A baffling, momentum-killing slab of mid-tempo flailing that feels like it wandered in from a different entry entirely. It doesn’t ruin the whole affair, but it dents it—a crack in the mirror that could’ve reflected greatness. Still, this is classy, distinctive, and emotionally resonant. More of this, please.
