Kiss Kiss Goodbye by ADONXS
Several artists of the class of 2025 have chosen to stylise their stage names in capitals, which makes it look like they’re all shouting for attention. ADONXS (the X doesn’t change the pronunciation you’d otherwise expect) has no need to raise his voice as his pleasing, low register vocals are as smooth as silk in this smoky and smouldering number.
In the video we see him as an experimental time traveller, projected to be beamed 100 years into the future, but who pulls a heartbreaking twist at the last moment to take him back to a defining moment of his youth.
ADONXS seems an engaging artist, toothsome, and baring a knowing amount of flesh in his publicity stills. He’s found local fame through the Idol franchise, though has cut his teeth on the London scene. He’s additionally a model, dancer and award-winning queer and humanitarian activist.
Perhaps it’s the dance background that has proved too tempting to resist a choreographed break. The somewhat sudden lurch into it is given some context in the video through the injection of a rogue substance during pre-time travel preparations, though this could be more difficult to preface live on stage, and the whole thing does feel rather incongruous. But you’ll forgive ADONXS a lot and on the whole the overall package is very satisfying.
My marks: 7 points
