Nick announces to his team-mates “Look, bear with me for three minutes here, I still haven’t reviewed Serbia and even though I’ve definitely played it several times I haven’t the faintest idea what it sounds like”.
22:56 CET, 5 May, 2025, OnEurope Towers (in a country etc). Nick gives the most desperately gallic shrug that a non-Frenchman can muster. His team-mates nod in a gesture of sympathy and solidarity.
I mean. *shrugs gallically*. It’s a perfectly adequate Balkan singer with perfectly adequate long hair singing a perfectly adequate Balkan ballad perfectly adequately. If this is the kind of thing that lets you in, you might very well appreciate it. If it doesn’t… you’re just going to sit there desperately shrugging gallically, aren’t you?
I don’t discern anything innovative and I don’t feel a connection to it. Every song finds its people etc, but I’m definitely not one of this song’s people so I’m left pretty much unmoved.
