Poland – Justyna – GAYA
For those of you that are old enough to remember Justyna the first time round in 1995 – Welcome to the website of choice. If you are a teenage dirtbag who has found the contest recently, also welcome but perhaps GAYA which autocorrect actually put as GAYS, might be your first foray into the music of, and I quote here, “The Shaman of the Polish Music Scene” – A grand title, I think you’ll agree.
If you haven’t got your ethnic quota in the contest 27 songs in, this is the one for you because it has that in spades and more on the video. The video shows a lot of dancing from half naked men and ladies and a lot of strobe lighting. The song itself isn’t that lyrical in its approach with very few words and a lot of Justyna shouting down the camera at me, in tune seemingly which is always a bonus in this contest.
It’s certainly a song that is fully formed and aimed at a television audience because that video could be put on a USB stick, handed to SSR who would be told to “put that on the screen”. My question is, is it *too* dark and *too* Ethnic for your very average non-Polish heritage televoter.
Phil’s score – 5 points.
