Switzerland – Zoë Më – Voyage
So, three songs left, and you might have detected that I am running out of puff with these, that’s because some of them are a long three minute slog on the old ears however this, this is NOT one of them.
The home nation could have done a massive whizz bang production to prove they are here and are hosting, but instead have gone the other way and have gone for a proper Chanson of the old mode, with modern touches – and in French as well if you don’t mind! The question is whether or not the televoters of Europe after having seen a woman on a massive microphone, three blokes in a sauna and all the other assorted shenanigans will need a breather, and decide “that nice young woman singing in French” was worth a couple of votes.
I seriously doubt it, to be honest, as it is aimed squarely at the older viewer and jury member, who should lap this up. It’s nice, yes, but nice doesn’t win Eurovision anymore. Does it?
Phil’s Score – 7 Points
This is realy a beautiful song and therefore it’s doomed. In this year line-up,it shines as a quiet break from all the noise and attention seeking songs.
One of the few songs, I will keep listening to after the contest ends.
