Phil’s Eurovision Countdown 2025 Part 37/37 – United Kingdom

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

What The Hell Just Happened? by Remember Monday

Our final song is always, by the fact that we’re a stupidly named country, the United Kingdom.

This year my home team have gone all, well….  how can one describe it?? Incognito would be the most flattering term to use. Remember Monday had been on The Voice back in 2019, but I had never heard of them… like most Eurovision fans. I also wondered if they could actually sing in a singing contest (we’ve since heard them live, they can!) – so what about the song then?

The first thing to say is that it’s a very complicated affair – there are a lot of key and time changes, which the juries should appreciate if they were being true to the Green Guide (which, reader, they often aren’t). I also think that this song is going to be too complicated for your simple televoter to get into across Europe, but it makes me smile and that is the most important thing and it should put a smile on some people’s faces on the 17th.

Staging is going to be key here. The preview video is great. It shows the song’s message of “I’ve been dumped but I don’t care, I got plastered” really well… and in Basel, they are going to have to show that. The rehearsal video that will be posted (soon today) will give us a clue.

I just don’t know how this is going to do. Potentially it could be a decent result, but I fear for its chances.

Phil’s Score – 6 Points.

Is it a bad song? No.
Does it fit Eurovision? Another no.
Arguably, any song is welcome on a Eurovision stage but somehow this just doesn’t fit in. It is chaotic, it shifts from 1 style to another one. It sounds like trying to surprise you so much, that it just lost the plot. It is also not catchy enough to grab the audience. At the end the audience will ask itself, What the hell has just happened?

A plus point is their harmonies , which really sound good.

    My points: 5 points
