14 December – A bit of red pepper is also included

Did you know there were Eurovision Song Contests in the 20th Century? It might be a shock for some I know. But not only were the 20th Century contests, some of them weren’t even in colour! Are you shocked?

Way in the 1950s, when there were contests, we found ourselves in Cannes. And it wouldn’t be the for only time either. On this Wednesday Austria sent today’s birthday boy Ferry Graf. You’ll be pleased with his Imperial and Royal ditty, even if this pleasure was only shared by 4% of the jurors in the non-Austria bit of Europe. We need more songs like this.

Ferry is 90 today.

Frohe Geburtstag, Ferry!
