Austria is one of those countries that have put in their fair share of good songs, and other songs over the years. They’ve had bands, and duos but only soloists have ever won.
In the 1970s, Österreich had a love/hate relationship with the show and had a few years out. One of those they did participate, they sent the duo of Waterloo and (today’s birthday boy) Robinson (né Josef Krassnitzer). He’s the one with the moustache. They sang in English, because anyone could in 1976. Their “little” song did OK, scoring from 14 out of 17 juries, and without getting a single maximum. Only four Austrian songs have done better in a Grand Final. It might sound a little dated now, but fair play for a good performance.
Robinson is 78 today.
Frohe Geburtstag, Robinson!
