We mentioned duets occasionally, and how with two performers, you’re likely to tick more boxes. And more ticked boxes mean more votes – or so you’d hope. Not that many duets have won our favourite TV show over the years, but there’s no harm in trying.
Today’s duo definitely look the part. There’s no dressing down here. They look like a really fancy wedding and, who knows, maybe that’s what today’s birthday boy Γιάννης Σαββιδάκης/Yannis Savvidakis and his cohort Phani Polymeri were planning. Yannis and Phani managed 11th, so they did finish in the top half. And that’s despite only seven points from Greece. Still, you can also spot other Eurovision alumni in the background. It’s a veritable smörgåsbörd of Cypriot trying, before your very eyes.
Yannis is 60 today.
