The singers in our favourite TV show come from all over our fair continent (and beyond of course). You name a place in Europe, and there’s probably at least one singer who is associated with that place.
But until a certain weeknight in 2023 in Liverpool, one entity had yet to field anyone. That entity is the Faroe Islands – you know, that wayward part of Denmark that likes its solitude and fish. The person to break that duck was today’s birthday boy Reiley (né Rani Johann Petersen). Yes, really! He had a very colourful stage show, perhaps to echo the wondrous colours of his home archipelago – perhaps. But despite all the colours, he couldn’t quite get over the line and make it to the big Grand Final. He did get points from Greater Faroe (aka Iceland) but from elsewhere they were a bit thin on the ground to say the least. But Føroyar/Færøerne, welcome to the party!
Reiley is 27 today.
