Danish national final goes ahead without audience

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix

Denmark picks its Eurovision 2020 song tomorrow evening. For the first time, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix contest takes place in Copenhagen’s new Royal Arena. For the first time, the audience seats will be empty.

Even though 10,000 people already have tickets, Danish government recommendations to slow the spread of Coronavirus suggest cancelling events where more than 1000 people might gather.

Gustac Lützhøft, speaking for broadcaster DR noted the show will go ahead, with camera angles adjusted to create an enjoyable show for those watching at home and online.

Hella Joof and Rasmus Bjerg will host Saturday’s show on DR1 and DRTV from 20:00 CET.

The winner will represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam in May.
