11 May – Always drivin’ through red lights, babe

Yesterday we had a home entrant. Today we have another one. And in a curious twist, even though she was a home entrant, she was also a false-flagger, from the country we concentrated on yesterday. Confused? You should be.

OK, OK, today’s birthday girl Sahlene (née Anna Cecilia Sahlin) was Swedish, but her near neighbours Estonia picked her to sing for them when they hosted the contest in 2002. What a week that was, in a fine, fine city and a contest of fine, fine songs (more or less). It’s odd that for a country with such a proud singing tradition, Estonia picked a non-native. Anyhow, she finished third. Not bad you might think. But if you include all Swedes as home entrants (irrespective of where ‘home’ was), then she equals yesterday’s birthday girl. But who would win in a fight between Sahlene and Kikki? There’s only one way to find out…

Sahlene is 44 today.

Palju õnne sünnipäevaks/Grattis på födelsedagen, Sahlene!
