Finland’s Eurovision queen Erika Vikman is getting the full hometown hero treatment—complete with saunas, drag queens, and sweeping views of Tampere. The city has gone all-in on backing their boldest pop export with a cheeky new support video titled Ich komme aus Tampere.

The video (below), which doubles as a brilliant bit of tourism promo, features some of Tampere’s most iconic spots—from the ridges of Pispala to the city’s famous Keskustori square. There’s even footage shot on a floating sauna barge out on Lake Pyhäjärvi, because of course there is. It’s Finland.

Roll call

And who’s shaking it to Ich komme? None other than a roll-call of beloved Tampere faces: comedian Anitta Ahonen, Eurovision veteran Mikko Alatalo, Simo Frangen, Matilda Wirtavuori, and the fierce Carrie the Drag Queen, to name a few. Even students from Erika’s old school join in, along with the designer of her latex stage outfit, Tiina Rikala.

“Erika Vikman’s Ich komme is a celebration of boldness and breaking boundaries,” said Tuomas Paloniemi of Visit Tampere. “The same can be said about Tampere as a city. Through this video, we want to unite our community—and all of Finland—to cheer Erika on to victory.”

The video is making the rounds on social media and will be shown in various public spaces across Tampere in the lead-up to the contest.

Sauna

But Tampere isn’t just showing support from afar. Alongside the town of Vöyri (home of KAJ, representing Sweden this year), they’re setting up a full-blown Finnish lounge right in the heart of Basel for Eurovision week. It’ll feature performances, Finnish vibes—and yes, an actual sauna. Hot all week long.

“Sauna is such a big part of Tampere’s identity,” said the city’s event manager Saara Saarteinen. “It’s part of how we want to show ourselves to the world.”

So while Erika gets ready to deliver one of the most talked-about performances of the year, Tampere is making sure she feels the love—from the streets of Finland to the stage in Basel.
