Nick: Germany are not adding anything to the sum of my happiness right now. No Angels are five lasses – who were, apparently, HUGE a few years ago – and they are all harmonising very nicely. Sadly, however, not with each other. And the huge falling feathers on the backdrop do nothing to make it look interesting on screen. It’s all falling as flat as last week’s pancakes. This is a really, really poor rehearsal – one of the worst I’ve seen this year.
I don’t want to be unduly harsh here, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone bet on the UK finishing 25th. Dervish set off from 4th position in the final too …
According to Victor Chandler , bookmakers without a clue – it is 7/1 against that Germany will finish last.
Get your bets on now!!
Franko: This is actually one of my favourite songs in the contest but alas these girls don’t nail it very well. They are quite often off key and not great movers. Their initial garb is ill advised with long chiffony cloaks, but fortunately they discard these part way through. The presentation is unremarkable and that together with it’s equally bad draw leads to feel that these four are following in the footsteps of Grazia in 2005 and giving Germany last place. Nobody is ever going to remember this after 25 songs, reprise or no reprise. Shame really because Germany actually put quite a lot of effort into their national final and in the last few years have provided me with songs I’ve really, genuinely liked. The whole thing is just a bit too lazy in style and Spice Girls comeback. I hope for their sake that they manage to avoid the dreaded nul points which is certainly a possibility on what I’ve just seen.
Phil: If ever there was a song that is “to the coming last” then Germany has it. It is a decent radio song – but that’s about it. In contrast with the UK that has come before it in this bit of the running order, the German song is totally forgettable and is something you have on in the background whilst doing the Shake n Vac. It’s bland, it’s boring, it’s any number of things that most German entries in the latter years of the contest are – totally forgettable.
They also went for the pyro trick as well in the final rehearsal – which made the song look even more silly. You see that straw in the distance … you see ARD‘s fist clutching for it??
I suspect this is finishing at the bottom of the heap.
