Germany
Ooh we managed to get a shuttle bus today! Hallelujah! It goes around the houses but it’s got us here just in time for Eliza’s last run through. There’s nothing much different from the German national final with a busy but nice backdrop and the other band members in pretty much the same spots. I don’t know anyone who’s a fan of this and surely Germany are destined for another poor result.
United Kingdom
Oooh, here’s our Mollie for Royaume Uni now. A palpable hush descends on the press centre. Molly is centre-stage with the drummer directly behind her and the backing singers two each side. The backdrop is blue with a white flowery stage pattern that turns a warmer shade of red and gold later in the song with golden lanterns rising up to the ceiling. Molly is vocally good with that lovely rasp coming through. There are some lovely long shots and one great one where the song breaks to the final chorus and we are taken right up into the rafters. Molly was sounding great if not looking slightly uneasy on stage but it’s only the first rehearsal. She was having slight ear piece problems on the first run through but fine by the second where she loosens up towards the end. She walks a little with the hand microphone and this is nice, she should move earlier as she relaxes. By the third run through they’ve moved the drummer slightly to the left which gives the staging a nicer balance. Oh and settle yourselves dear reader the fourth run through WITH PYROS! An Emmellie De Forest pyro wall gives the ‘rafter’ shot even more oomph and finishes me off completely. I am now to be found quivering and whimpering in the coffee bar! A very competent first rehearsal from the UK greeted by cheers and applause in the press centre. Fab!
