Greece
Oh it’s Shane, Theo and Lukas otherwise known as the Greek boys! I’ve just realised I threw myself upon them last night tiddly in the euroclub. Not a shock really I guess but what were those boys doing out on the night before their rehearsal? Youth is a wonderful thing. Lukas’ vocal today showed the strain of the party and he needed the two hidden backing singers to give him more oomph. The rest is all fantastic, great energy and the employment of the trampoline genius. I’m wondering whether middle aged jurors will go mad for this but there will surely be a good televote for them. Love it! Top ten me thinks…
Slovenia
I’m actually writing this as Slovenia are finishing their third run through, wonders will never cease. This looks lovely with a spinning swirly blue stage effect and blue backdrop that turns golden towards the end. With Tinkara’s blue frock it might all be a bit blue but it looks ok. The problem is the song. It’s not particularly instant and though I don’t mind it, I can’t see it doing all that well. It’s a potential qualifier though because of it’s late draw and the fact juries will reward the flute!
Romania
So the last of the semi finalists, phew it’s been a long two days! Ovi and Paula still shouting at each other across the vast stage. Lots of flashes and glitter on the backdrop and a circular keyboard that from the overhead shots looks a bit like the big brother eye! I’m not sure why she’s in a blue frock in the video overlay (I’ve just been scalded by Ewan from ESCinsight for calling it a hologram, there’s a difference?!) whilst she appears in a shimmery black frock onstage? Am I thinking too much now? It’s all quite naff this and I’m thinking it might only qualify by virtue of its draw and then bomb in the final a la Cascada. Perhaps they’ll be rewarded for Paula’s big note and the fact they can sell it? They’ve decided to throw pyros in the last run through which, with there awkward embrace near the end, could be a naff gimmick too far.
Right time for my tenth coffee and to pick up the new transport timetable. Let’s hope we don’t make it a hat trick of taxis in the morning. My budget won’t stretch. Need beer now…
