It’s always good to see a success story. One where someone gets through, despite the odds being against them. Which is a tenuous link to Ireland.
Those heady days of the 1990s seem a long time ago, and past performance is no guide to future performance (so look out, Sweden). However, with this rich past, Ireland always aspires to do well at our favourite TV show. RTÉ’s record of late hasn’t been that stellar, but today’s birthday boy Ryan O’Shaughnessy managed against the odds to make the Grand Final in Lisbon. That was a great Tuesday night. Once on the final, it’s anybody’s to win, and our Ryan managed a creditable 16th place. His jury and televoting scores were very similar, which meant his excellent song struck about the right balance. As for Ryan, we wish him well in all his future endeavours.
Ryan is 28 today.
Happy birthday/Lá breithe sona duit, Ryan!
