30 May – ‘Cause too much is no good for a princess

Mr Eurovision. Every country has one. Or several. Or someone who thinks they are deserving of this title. Not to be confused with Dr Eurovision, obviously. There’s only room for one of those.

Moldova has a claimant to that title in today’s birthday boy Pasha Parfeny (né Pavel Parfeni). As you’ll know, he got the headline gig in 2012. And he was on stage as a writer the following year in Malmö, not to mention seen disappearing with a certain Big Five singer whilst he should have been in the Green Room. But – yes, there’s a but – he was formerly a lead singer with the Sunstroke Project. You may have seen them in Tel Aviv. Anyway, his two appearances for Moldova (out of 15), and if we count Sunstroke too, mean his touch has always got his country through to a Grand Final. Maybe they should get him in next year…

Pasha is 36 today.

La mulți ani, Pasha!
