It’s always good to see instruments on a stage, and even better of the singers are playing them. And it’s a bonus if they’re actually playing them, and not just miming playing them. Sadly, we now live in a world of pre-recorded backing tracks.
The piano might whet your appetite when it appears on a stage. Two, doubly so. In 2010, Romania sent today’s birthday girl Paul Seling along with her pal Ovi. They each had a piano, so fans on the instrument must have been ecstatic. As it happened, because the pianos did something very un-pianolike, they probably weren’t functioning instruments. It made little difference. The stage show was enough and our Romanian pair finished third in the Grand Final.
Paula is 46 today.
