Cyprus, Slovenia and an early Poland to close

I didn’t really see Cyprus, sorry. I’m not doing that well this afternoon, it’s been a long day. And I have been moonlighting for three – THREE! – other meed-ya outlets. Don’t say you don’t get your money’s worth with me. It starts black and white with Just John in the spotlight, and it pretty much carries on in that vein. I think you have to either like this or you don’t. Although having said that I actually only quite like it. It’s gone a bit down in my estimation to be honest, although its simplicity is strength. If it were among a sea of up-tempo numbers it may fare better but it’s in a sea of ballads so who can say.

Slovenia on the other hand has got much of its sparkle back. The first run through today and it feels more like the Slovene national final which is where I fell in love with it. We met them yesterday and she’s tiny. It’s a wonder her headphones haven’t swallowed her whole. Still in an unflattering white dress, still with the slightly odd air violinist, but it’s good. I’d still love this to be the winner. I’m liking that we have a bit of a red-head battle going on between Maria and the equally divine Deborah Scarlett.

I might miss Poland but it was already quite good in the first rehearsal so I can’t see it needs much work. There’s a piano, she’s in her wheelchair, and she sings it well. I’ll see it on Tuesday, we’ve a party to go to. Macedonian reception first and then the Kibbutz Klub Eurovision special with my friends Alkis and Marco DJing, which looks like it will be a giggle. 9.40am start for Italy tomorrow… We know they’re going to be good – let’s see how the night goes in case we don’t make it…
