25 April – Couldn’t escape if I wanted to

You may recall earlier this month we celebrated a big birthday of a member of some certain popular beat combo from the Nordic part of our great continent. Today we celebrate another birthday from a member of the same popular beat combo.

Back in the 1970s, April must have been a fun month in a certain household in Sweden. Today’s birthday boy Björn Ulvæus celebrated just 20 days after his one-time wife Agnetha Fältskog. As we know, they were one half of ABBA, who wowed Europe in 1974, and then went on to do to the same to the world. Waterloo won Melodifestivalen at a canter, scoring 302 points. The runner-up scored a measly 211. That runner-up Lasse Berhagen would get his turn one year later. Anyway, here’s the winning of that all-time classic, in Swedish, at Melodifestivalen 1974.

Björn is 75 today.

Grattis på födelsedagen, Björn!
