9 December – You’ve become an obsession

Long before a certain Thomas G:son among others, Sweden (remember them?) had a number of people who could turn out Eurovision entries quicker than you can list your favourite song(s) by Carola.

Since 1978, Melodifestivalen has been the occasional haunt of today’s birthday boy Lars-Eric Gustav ‘Lasse’ Holm. He’s composed 17 songs for MF, five of which made it to the big stage in Harrogate, Munich, Gothenburg, Bergen and Millstreet, and even sang one with his pal Monika Törnell. It was an entry to remember. His best finish as a writer was third twice, but we’re going to concentrate on the one he sang with his gang. It ‘only’ came fifth but at least won the tussle with his Danish brethren. Are his works better then G:son? What do you think?

Lasse is 77 today.

Grattis på födelsedagen, Lasse!
