Eurovision Songs are like buses…

Eurovision 2020

You turn your back for a minute and THREE of the buggers come along at once.

In a time-saving exercise by this site I’ve decided to mash up all three entries into one handy post… i’m good to you like that.

Israel

Feker Libi (My Love) is sung by the winner of the Israeli Star Search Eden Alene. Sung in Hebrew, English and Arabic, it tries to straddle all of the constituent parts of Israeli culture. Does it succeed?

Switzerland

In a desperate attempt to win last year’s contest, Swiss telly has gone for a French language song full of Arcade inspired rhythms and feels. Gjon’s Tears, the professional name of Gjon Muharremaj, is Swiss born to a Kosovar family. He’s a product of talent shows, specifically the French version of The Voice. And guess what … staging will come courtesy of Sasha Jean Baptise.

Netherlands, The

Another country, another song about feelings. This time Jeangu Macrooy sings the song, Grow. He says of the song: “Emotions, good and bad, are a universal language. I hope this song makes people feel a little less lonely in their search for happiness. I think that openness and honesty about how we really feel will ultimately bring us closer. I believe in the power of music to bring people together. It’s the reason I do what I do.” Fair enough.
